This pertains to, among other things, the documentation of the storage temperature of medications. The solution that SenseNet offers is the creation
of a universal temperature history for every medication that is transported from refrigerator to refrigerator on its way to the patient.
SenseNet allows for the temperature history of the refrigerator in which every medication was stored to be seamlessly updated upon placement in a new refrigerator.
Participants of this worldwide spanning “workflow” include pharmacies, doctors, hospitals, global agent special-currier services (BioCare, WorldCourier), multi company pharmaceutical enterprises, and naturally, the Clinical Research Organizations (CROs).
Doctors and pharmacists that partake in the lucrative research process are regularly obliged to maintain records of the storage temperature of medicines. SenseNet not only takes over this record keeping, automates the communication between doctor and client/orderer, and makes to the temperature history visible to the third-party, but also alerts the doctor and pharmacists in the case of an error, so that damage to the medicines can be avoided.
The special feature of the SenseNet alarm system lies in the fact that medications with different storage temperature intervals can be stored together. SenseNet provides each medication with its own temperature interval sensor, so that the alerts/alarms from individual medications can be triggered when the storage temperature lies outside of the permissible temperature range.
A further benefit of SenseNet is that the alarm and temperature logger work in unison, so that error situations can be prognosticated in better time through the analysis of the temperature development and therefore, be prevented.
With these functions, SenseNet considerably reduces the logical-organizational expenditure within pharmaceutical research. Since 2006, SenseNet Pharma has been protected as a registered design and will per PCT in May 2008 be transformed into a worldwide patent. Distribution of the product began in April 2008. |

| SenseNet® Transport |
SenseNet® Transport was developed to meet two requirements: the need for SenseNet® to supply a comprehensive history of measured values, and the need to inform drivers of vehicles transporting items such as biological specimens if temperature limits are exceeded, so that they can intervene manually.
The transport sensors have their own power supply and are connected via Bluetooth to the GSM terminal located in the driver's cab. The driver receives information about the condition of the transported goods via the integrated LED.
If a fault occurs, the driver can use the linked RFID manual module to identify the package in question so that he can restore the set point temperature, for example by adding dry ice.
If a consignment is transported by air freight, the Bluetooth transmitter can be switched off manually via RFID and switched back on at a later stage. The system operates as a data logger in the intervening period. The Bluetooth module is reactivated on arrival and the data that were collected are then transmitted to the portal.
